Ashwani has experience of more than 40years in restaurant industry and has run more than 5 different restaurants in his entire career. He has the magic of creating new recipes in his free time.
He has education in catering from Panipat (Haryana) in India.

Saroj with her entrepreneurial skills has been instrumental in helping Ashwani run India Palace since its start. With her continuous support to the community thorough all these years, she has ensured that she doesn't miss any opportunity to give back to the people of this community.
She also runs India Palace Express, Hotel Royal Plaza, Waves Restaurant & Café and The Knndy - Pub.
IT ALL STARTED WHEN ASHWANI AND HIS WIFE SAROJ WENT OUT LOOKING FOR EAST INDIAN CUISINE RESTAURANT AND COULD NOT FIND ONE EASILY.
After coming on work permit to Winnipeg, Ashwani started working at an Indian Restaurant. After a couple of years, he brought his wife Saroj from India. One day while looking for a good East Indian cuisine restaurant, they realized there are only 2 restaurant in the city.
With the increasing East Indian population and the taste of east Indian food that Canadians loved, Ashwani and Saroj came up with the idea of opening a restaurant. The first restaurant that they opened was Bombay Restaurant in 1982. After running that restaurant successfully for a decade, they opened India Palace Restaurant in 1992. Since then India Palace has made to the news numerous times. With the authentic East Indian recipes and the perfect blend of Indian spices, India Palace has positioned itself as one of the most loved East Indian cuisines in Winnipeg and particularly in Winnipeg Downtown.
If you are also one of those who think that Butter Chicken's flavor comes from Butter then you are wrong. The deceiving fact about Butter Chicken is that it is made from marinated Chicken, crushed tomatoes, cream and just a little bit of butter. The flavor of this world known dish comes from everything that is put in it but Butter.
Most of us think that Samosas are an Indian delicacy. The fact is that even though Samosas are most famous in India and have its name associated with India, they are not from India. Samosas were originated in Tanzania. This is a different thing that Samosas are widely sold by Indian businesses and there are many different varieties of Samosas that have evolved over the years.
In biryani, meat and rice are cooked separately before being layered and cooked together. Pulao is a single-pot dish: meat and rice are simmered in a liquid until the liquid is absorbed. This is why Biryani is sometimes more expensive that Pulao.
